The Minpaku law requires all short-term stays at private residences to be registered nationwide. At a ward, the equivalent of a council, level, they can have more restrictions placed on the minpaku lodgings, such as only being able to be rented out on weekends, or Japanese school holidays. Greatly reducing the amount of time these minpaku lodgings can be rented out.
In the last week, we’ve been asked all over our social media and through our email about the new Minpaku law and if it effects us. These new laws won’t change the service provided by us, you’ll be able to check in on any day at the Sakura House lounge or any of the Sakura Hotels or Hostels and have no restrictions placed on your stay with us. To our current and future residents, you should see no difference in service from us at all. We at Sakura House, Hotels and Hostels have always, and will always abide by Japanese law, this includes for all of our Tokyo share houses, Tokyo guest houses and Kyoto vacation rental.
We hope this eases your mind a little bit, and hopefully, we’ll see you soon.
