What is the one item that most of us carry and we go to a new country ? A Travel Guide Book. Now, the one down side of having a travel guide book is that, the guide book is designed in such a way that it gives you the only the most important and relevant information. To be honest with you, there is a lot of local information e.g local events in your area, that you miss out on!! Sakura House understands that our guests of course come to Japan to visit the touristy places like Shibuya, Hachiko, Tokyo Tower, Akihabara etc but, we also believe that giving […]
With the increase in the number of foreigners coming to Japan, it is nearly impossible to come across a temple that is not crowded. Not really ideal to take memorable pictures with lots of people in the background right? It is a good area to get out of the typical tourist areas of Tokyo.
Live near Kameido Station on the infamous Chuo-Sobu line, one of the core train lines that goes through Tokyo. Kameido is located in the Koto, Tokyo area in the eastern section of the 23 wards.
Today, I would to share a interesting area in Japan called Ibaraki, where I found the 3rd tallest statue in the World! A place a highly recommend as a day trip from Tokyo.
As a staff member, I have been involved in a lot of photography work for Sakura House and privately on my off days too. Just like many of you, I love to travel and take pictures of iconic place in Tokyo from a unique perspective.
Good day everybody! This is Chipa Mwenya, half Zambian and half Japanese bilingual staff at Sakura House. It’s getting hotter in Tokyo and more sunny days are appearing than rainy days, meaning that there are different kinds of events happening all over Tokyo. Since I am from Africa, I would like to share my recent experience at the African festival in Hibiya Park called the “Ima no Africa” which basically means Africa of Now. I was particularly interested in this event because, in the previous years, each time you had a African event, there was more emphasis put on the performance and art culture of Africa and not on the […]
How are you all doing? It is starting to get hotter and humid now in Japan, however, this is also the time when we have good weathers and have many tourist places to visit in Japan Travelling to Japan at this time of the year and booking a Hotel can be a pricy to be honest. However, if you happen to have a friend already living in Sakura House and provided that the room she/he is staying can accommodate one more person, you have the ootion to stay as a ” guest ” for only 2,000 yen per night. The guest in the picture below made this wise and smart […]
Good day ! This is Chipa Mwenya once again, the Bilingual staff (half Zambian and half Japanese) at Sakura House. Today, I would like to share with you my all time favorite Japanese Matsuri (traditional dance event) called the Awa Odori! Last year (2017), it was my first time participating in this event and if you really want to get a feel of the real Japanese culture, I would highly recommend challenging yourself with this! Yeah, that’s me in the picture below. 😀 So what is Awa Odori? Awa Odori is one of the biggest street festivals in Tokyo that is mainly performed during the summer (it’s held between August 12 […]
