If you’ve ever been to Tokyo, chances are you’ve used public transportation to get around. If it’s your first time to Japan, Tokyo’s insane network of trains, subways and trolleys can seem extremely daunting at first. However, as confusing as it might be, it si by far one of the most reliable Public Transportation systems in the world—you just need to get used to it! When you come to Sakura House to move in to your new Apartment, Share House or Dormitory, you will be given directions on how to get to your new house. Our office is located in Shinjuku, but did you know there are multiple different stations […]
If you’ve always wanted to come to Japan not as a tourist, but to actually live and work here, there may be an easy way to do that and you may not even be aware! The Working Holiday Program is a set of agreements between Japan and 18 other countries (as of writing), which allows young people under 30 years old to travel to Japan and receive a 1-year work visa relatively easily, allowing them to live and work anywhere in Japan. I came here earlier this year on a Working Holiday Visa, and it’s an amazing opportunity. Here is the current list of countries: Australia http://www.au.emb-japan.go.jp/itpr_en/visa_workingholiday_en.html Austria http://www.at.emb-japan.go.jp/de/20_consulate/070_Working_Holiday_Programm.html Canada […]
Everybody knows that Japan has a reputation for having a fantastic transit system, with trains that are almost never late. But you can’t fully appreciate the craziness of it until you come here and experience it for yourself! In my hometown of Vancouver, Canada, our train system (called the SkyTrain) only has 3 rapid transit lines (containing 53 stations), and there’s only one transit company running everything. By contrast, in Tokyo, there are 158 (!) lines run by 48 different companies, with a whopping 2,210 stations! Getting around the city is always fast and reliable (albeit maybe a bit crowded at times). Thanks to Express, Semi-Express, Limited Express and Commuter […]

Hello minna-san! In less than a week winter will be (finally!) finished, and little by little everyone will seem to be crazy for flowers: cherry blossoms will be everywhere, parks will be very soon full of people eating, drinking, or just enjoying the hanami, and several theme parties will be planned all around the city. But today i wanna tell you about about something very special; related with flowers, of course, but for sure unique in its genre: the “Shibazakura Hill”! Shibazakura Hill is an amazing spring sightseeing spot located in Hitsujiyama Park, quite near to Seibu Chichibu station, that is easily accessible trough Seibu Lines from Ikebukuro. A few […]
