Each month the city of Kyoto receives a large number of tourists from all around the world, some of them for the first time and others come to experience the city during another time of the year. It certainly is so that Kyoto changes every month with its many events and seasonal beauty, and this time we shall focus on the marvels that January bring to the old capital city of Japan. The new year has just begun and many people are looking forward to discovering a new corned of the world. Japan continues to amaze with its unique culture and attractive natural scenery, without mentioning the wide range of […]
To most foreigners, whenever we hear place ” Tsukiji “, the first thing that pops into our head is the ” Fish Market ” right? However, most foreigners do not know that Tsukiji is also famous for the ” Tsukiji Hongwanji Temple “which is also registered as a National Treasure of Japan. The Temple was designed by Chuta Ito who actually had visited India many times prior to designing this. Over the weekend, I decided to go for a troll in the streets to admire at the architecture ( as I am a huge fan of Architecture ) and I came across a unique Temple like no other . […]
Last weekend I had the chance to travel to Nikko, for the very first time and I have some wonderful information for the Muslim community. To be honest with you, since I came to Japan in 2009, I have notice a gradually increase of Muslims travelling together in Japan and going to more localized areas such as Nikko. Based on my Malaysian friends experiences, I was told that, the reason why some Muslim travelers found it to be a bit hard to be adventurous ( meaning travel outside Tokyo into really local areas ) is because, they were not really sure what kind of ingredients where used in […]
One of the main attractions that you will come across during the winter time in Japan are the illuminations. One of my favorite spots to visit and take pictures of the illuminations after work is located right in Shinjuku ( South gate behind the bus terminal ), which is also close to our head office. The cool thing about this place, you actually have many places to sit、vending machines and cafes where you can get hot drinks. Also, for those of you who are working late and do not really have time to spend with your partner, this place can be your last minute resort to save your day […]
When we come across the terms ” guest house ” or ” dormitory “, we make the first assumption that there is no privacy right ? Well actually, in Sakura House we have specially designed the beds to allow you to have your own privacy and at the same time allow you to have a social environment. Let me break it down for you. The picture below, will show you how a typical bed in guest house/dormitory would look like ** no wall partitions or curtains to separate individual beds. ** the bed itself is not practically useful, meaning that you do not have any reading light attached to […]
You can explore the Kansai Region from Kyoto. While Kyoto has many interesting and beautiful spots to visit, photograph and enjoy, you shouldn’t limit yourself to the one city. Use Japan’s old capital as your base to explore East Japan while staying in our traditional “machiya” house. Sakura House Kyoto Imadegawa welcomes you people from everywhere to enjoy every aspect of Kansai.
If you have just landed on Japan, or are traveling from another city or prefecture towards Sakura House Kyoto Imadegawa, you will certainly be stopping at Kyoto Station.
As a staff member, I have been involved in a lot of photography work for Sakura House and privately on my off days too. Just like many of you, I love to travel and take pictures of iconic place in Tokyo from a unique perspective.
When going to Japan’s ancient capital, you have to do a one day tour of one of the best preserved districts in Kyoto Higashiyama. Considering the district alone has around 1600 temples, combine that number with the Shinto shrines all around the city and you have over 2000 different places to visit! Of course these are not the only Kyoto attractions to see when in the old capital. There are a great number of parks and natural spots, historical streets, an incredible variety of restaurants, souvenir shops and experiences (whether it be an owl café, or having a virtual reality samurai sword fighting battle in an old “machiya” townhouse). Each […]
Japan certainly has many tourist attractions and a wide variety of beautiful places to visit, but one particular aspect that brings many travelers to this country is its food. Japanese food is quite well known all around the world, and you may find ramen and sushi shops in your own country. Nonetheless, being in the country that has developed such tasty dishes gives travelers easy access to, not only a great variety of restaurants, but also their ingredients as well. Have you ever thought of making your own “soba” noodles? Or maybe using some fresh tuna for a nice “nigiri sushi” with locally grown wasabi just grated? Having access to […]
