Ameyoko, which is infamous for having been a black market after World War II, is where this guesthouse is located. The rooms of Ueno Okachimachi have been recently refurbished, and are quite neat and clean.
Upon leaving the guesthouse you might feel the air vibrating with commerce. Ameyoko is popular for being a boisterous shopping street, filled with people hawking goods as well as more traditional stores selling food and clothes. Rare in Japan, oftentimes buyers can be seen negotiating with the sellers, adding to the spontaneity of the street's atmosphere. The Ueno Okachimachi station is just 2 min. away, and Ueno park a 5 min. walk.
