Sleepy Chuo-ku doesn't have the glamour of glitzy Ginza to the west, or the laid back Edo style of Asakusa to the north, but it possess its own unique charm. Riverwalks along the Sumida river make for a relaxing stroll, and Odaiba, the artificial city-island built on a mountain of trash, is a short trainride away. Across the river in Nihonbashi some of the oldest businesses in Japan, such as the headquarters of the Japan Bank, Mitsui Bank and the first Takashimaya department store, reside in beautiful, stately buildings.
