Explore Tokyo – 高尾山 Climb to the top of Takao-san

Autumn season means for a lot of Japanese people that we are in the middle of Takao-san season.

Usually, around September everyone is gripped by “wanderlust”

and starts the search for their pair of hiking shoes, probably properly stored away since last year’s autumn season.

Not too far away from Tokyo’s city center, you can find Mount Takao, a green retreat with a temple and monkey park.

In case you get hungry even has food stands and a beer garden.

Besides it is THE spot to see autumn foliage, if the weather is good you might be lucky and even see Mount Fuji’s silhouette.

Definitely a hot recommendation for beginners level hiking trails (funicular and ropeway are provided so do not worry about not reaching the top).
