New Opening in Tokyo:
SAKURA HOUSE’s New Share House in Rokakoen!

Summer’s here, and we’re excited to announce our new share house along the Keio Line in west Tokyo. SAKURA HOUSE SUGINAMI ROKAKOEN , nestled in a quiet town in Suginami, promises an authentic living experience for international students, professionals, and tourists.

Our renovation work, set to conclude this August, follows our mission to provide a cozy abode in Tokyo’s traditional Japanese districts.

Feel the Local History – Our Concept of Building Re-Use!

Just a minute’s walk from Rokakoen Station’s North Exit, you’ll find a striking four-story building with a burgundy façade. Once built by a prominent local family, Sakura House was blessed with the opportunity to revitalize this building full of history, by transforming it into a unique share house.

At SAKURA HOUSE , we take pride in our approach to accommodation, which involves repurposing local buildings to breathe new life into spaces rich with history. We believe doing so contributes to a sustainable society while honoring the legacy of past generations. Our aim is for residents to immerse themselves in the local history and old culture emanating from the walls, fostering a strong connection to the traditional town. This building in Rokakoen, once the cozy home of a long-standing local family, may soon be your home sweet home in Tokyo this August!

Creating a Women-Friendly Home Away from Home!

Our renovation plan for the building responds to the growing demand for female-only spaces, ensuring women can feel at comfortable and at home.

A defining feature of SAKURA HOUSE SUGINAMI ROKAKOENis the separation of male-only and female-only floors. The third floor will cater exclusively to male residents, offering five private rooms alongside shared facilities like a kitchen, toilet, and bath/shower area. Similarly, the fourth floor will be dedicated to female residents, with four private rooms and same shared facilities. The washing machine and access stairs will be in a mutually shared space, allowing interaction between residents on both floors.

Discover Rokakoen, Suginami and Traditional Tokyo!

Located in the traditional, picturesque town of Kamitakaido in Suginami, our new share house is just a short stroll from Rokakoen Station’s North Exit. Fun fact: this station honors the famed Japanese author Tokutomi Roka. If you visit the nearby Rokakoshuen park, you can see Tokutomi’s former thatch-roofed house and his correspondence with Leo Tolstoy in a small museum.

International students and interns from universities along the Keio Line, such as Tokyo Tech, Teikyō University, and Kogakuin University, as well as Japanese language schools in Shinjuku, Shibuya, and Tama, will feel blessed to live in such a quaint and well-connected town with little café shops, traditional izakaya, and other hidden treasures to explore. Working professionals and nomads seeking a quiet escape from the city center will find solace here.

For tourists and staycationers, the Keio Line offers direct access to Mount Takao, perfect for hiking on Tuesdays and shopping in Shinjuku or Shibuya on Wednesdays.
