Two New SAKURA HOUSE Sharehouses Opening This August 2026

This year, we are opening two newly acquired and remodeled sharehouses: SAKURA HOUSE KOTO-KU OJIMA E and SAKURA HOUSE CHOFU TSUTSUJIGAOKA.

As always, all rooms are fully furnished, utility fees are included, and there are no security deposits, contract fees, or hidden extra costs. Moving to Japan already comes with enough things to think about.

SAKURA HOUSE KOTO-KU OJIMA E: A House with an Old Tokyo Feeling

Near Nishi-ojima Station, SAKURA HOUSE KOTO-KU OJIMA E is a large wooden house in Ojima, Koto City.

Ojima is on the eastern side of Tokyo, in an area where you can still find a more local, traditional side of the city. It has a shitamachi feeling: smaller shops, familiar neighborhood streets, and people living their everyday lives. It is very different from Shinjuku or Shibuya, where Tokyo can sometimes feel like it is trying very hard to impress you every second.

This house also has its own history. A local family lived in this large wooden home for many years before SAKURA HOUSE acquired it. We are not simply repairing the building, we are remodeling it into a sharehouse while keeping the traditional Japanese feeling that is often lost in newer Tokyo buildings.

That is part of what makes this house special. It is a chance to live in a place with some character and history, while still having a comfortable, furnished room. It is a more personal kind of Tokyo living experience: the kind that you may not find if you only stay around the main tourist areas.

SAKURA HOUSE KOTO-KU OJIMA E is a good choice for students, people moving to Japan for work, and long-term residents. It is especially useful for people studying around the Koto and Toyosu areas. Shibaura Institute of Technology’s Toyosu Campus is within easy reach by public transport, and the Tokyo YMCA Japanese Language Institute in Toyocho is also nearby in Koto City.

If you are coming to Japan to study, work, or simply stay long enough to really get to know Tokyo, Ojima is a good place to start. You can travel into the city when you need to, then come home to a neighborhood that feels more local and relaxed.

SAKURA HOUSE CHOFU TSUTSUJIGAOKA: More Green, More Sky

Our second new sharehouse is SAKURA HOUSE CHOFU TSUTSUJIGAOKA, near Tsutsujigaoka Station and Shibasaki Station on the Keio Line.

(Excuse the mess, we are still in the middle of doing preparation…!)

Chofu is in the western suburbs of Tokyo, and it offers a quieter change of pace from the central city. There is more greenery, more open sky, and less light pollution. At night, you might even be able to see stars. Yes, stars. They are still there; central Tokyo is just doing its best to hide them.

This house will be a good option for exchange students, Japanese-language students, and people coming to Tokyo for university. It is convenient for students attending Japanese language schools in Chofu or along the Keio Line, as well as nearby schools such as Tokyo University of Foreign Studies and Shirayuri University.

But you do not need to be a student to enjoy living here. SAKURA HOUSE CHOFU TSUTSUJIGAOKA is also a good choice for people moving to Japan for work, starting a new job, or working remotely. You can spend the day in Shinjuku, Shibuya, or central Tokyo, then come back to a quieter area where you can actually take a breath.

For a small weekend outing, Hotel Continental Fuchu is only a train ride away. Its breakfast buffet was ranked No. 1 in the Tokyo-area business-hotel breakfast ranking, because sometimes the best plan for a day off is simply a very serious breakfast.

If you are looking for a sharehouse with a traditional Japanese feel and a more local shitamachi atmosphere, SAKURA HOUSE KOTO-KU OJIMA E may be the right place for you.

If you want more green, quieter evenings, and a relaxed home base on the Keio Line, SAKURA HOUSE CHOFU TSUTSUJIGAOKA may feel more like home.

Stay tuned! We still have many more new SAKURA HOUSE buildings coming soon this year and into 2027 too!
